Construction Administrator / Commissioning Agent
Description:
We are seeking a mechanical commissioning engineer with in-depth knowledge of building automation systems, mechanical systems design, and construction processes for commercial buildings. Applicant should have 3+ years commissioning experience in new building construction, retro-commissioning, energy audits, or related field. Commissioning and/or LEED AP professional certifications are preferred.
Attributes include being self motivated, being able to work independently, having good oral and written communications skills, organizational skills, and having the ability to work multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of design and construction. Knowledge of LEED certification requirements as they relate to commissioning services is beneficial.
Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering degree preferred; other degrees will be considered. Non-degreed applicants with 5+ years in non-residential construction management, commercial HVAC installation and repair, or building automation and controls experience will be considered if accompanied with proven experience in project management and customer relations skill sets.
Position Responsibilities:

Provide commissioning services for new and existing buildings.

Review and optimize building control systems and performance.

Interact with client staff, client principals, building construction management teams and building construction trades.

Develop commissioning plans, specifications, and design reviews for new and existing buildings.

Review shop drawings and equipment submittals in parallel with design team.

Write detailed Functional Performance Test (FPT) procedures for issue to contractor.

Perform site visits during construction to observe mechanical system installation and operation.

Witness equipment startups, test/balance activities, and administer system functional performance testing.

Capability to inspect and functionally test existing energy consuming equipment and diagnose problems.

Effectively lead commissioning team meetings.

Develop clear and concise written reports that summarize the results of the commissioning process.

Manage assigned projects to deliver a quality service on time, and on budget.
