Remodeled Recreational Facility

Morrissey Engineering completed the mechanical and electrical design for extensive remodeling to the existing Boys and Girls Club building. The upgrade was done to create a more appealing facility for the learning, sports and general activities for children and the community. Renovated areas included gathering areas, recreation center, swimming pool, bathroom facilities and exterior lighting.
North Omaha Boys and Girls Club Facility

This facility (28,000 square feet main floor area + 3,400 square feet of mezzanine) consists of office space, classrooms, kitchen, gymnasium, work out room, and youth centers. The mechanical system consists of standard efficiency rooftop units. Multiple units were used to allow zoning of the building. Air distribution in the open areas as well as the gymnasium utilized a fabric duct system. The kitchen contains a Type I kitchen hood with associated ductwork and exhaust fan. The hood is a short circuit type with a heating only gas-fired makeup air unit serving the supply. A 1600A, 208/120V service was designed with power provisions for future athletic field lighting. The lighting design provides a modern and positive environment through lighting fixture selection and carefully designed light levels throughout the facility, depending on utilization of space. A 30-workstation computer lab incorporates both hard-wired and wireless technology for internet connectivity for educational programs.
