Morrissey Engineering designed the mechanical and electrical systems for this 52,500 square foot Sanctuary and classroom addition, which is currently under construction.

The main level includes a Sanctuary which is a 1,000 seat auditorium with a sloping ceiling up to 50' in height. The Sanctuary is served by both house and theatrical lighting systems, both supported by full architectural dimming. Three air handling units with variable frequency drives maintain the space temperature and a carbon dioxide monitoring system regulates fresh air intake for ventilation effectiveness and energy conservation. Morrissey Engineering worked with the architect's acoustical consultant to achieve our design goal of NC25-N maximum noise level to allow a superior acoustical environment for a House of Worship with a contemporary music service. Floor registers, served from ductwork located in the basement ceiling, supply air directly to the occupied portion of the Sanctuary, optimizing comfort, preserving acoustical integrity, and integrating the mechanical systems with the architecture.

Also highlighting the main level is a perfect circle Entry/Narthex, which is glass from floor to ceiling. Morrissey Engineering partnered with the architectural design team to solve the mechanical and electrical challenges presented by the unique building envelope.

The lower level consists of child and adult education classrooms, a youth activity area, and a choir and music practice room. The lower level is served by a variable volume air handler with each classroom having individual temperature control zoned by a fan powered VAV box.
