Located on the campus of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, the Harper Center renovation was driven by the rapid growth of the Heider College of Business and a vision to create a more dynamic, student-centered academic environment. Originally constructed to serve a variety of campus needs, the 102,030-square-foot facility was thoughtfully reimagined to better support business education while maximizing the efficiency and flexibility of existing space.

Working in collaboration with Holland Basham Architects, Morrissey Engineering provided comprehensive design services for the renovation, including Phase Two, which added 42,000 square feet through strategic reuse and program relocation within the building. The project transformed underutilized areas into vibrant, purpose-driven spaces tailored to the evolving needs of students and faculty.

Enhancements included new classrooms equipped with upgraded instructional technology, a state-of-the-art Trading and Investment Lab, and a variety of additional meeting and “huddle” rooms designed to foster collaboration. New faculty offices were integrated to enhance accessibility and engagement, while a welcoming gathering area beneath the atrium served as a central hub for connection and informal learning. A chapel was also incorporated, reinforcing the university's Jesuit identity within the academic setting.

Infrastructure and lighting improvements further elevated the learning environment. LED lighting was added along the south-facing windows to enhance comfort and energy efficiency, and building systems were updated to support modern educational demands. The southeast entrance was reimagined as a new primary gateway for Admissions, marked by a revitalized plaza and a striking globe sculpture that reflects the College's global perspective.

Completed in 2020, the Harper Center renovation positions the Heider College of Business for continued growth, delivering a flexible, technology-rich environment that supports innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence on the east side of campus.
